If you’re heading to Las Vegas and staying at the Rio Hotel, you’ll definitely want to check out WOW – The Vegas Spectacular. They often offer up to 50% off for guests, but it can change depending on the night—so don’t be shy, ask about show discounts when you check in! The Rio also hosts Penn & Teller, The Empire Strips Back, and Comedy Cellar (yes, the one inspired by the famous NYC spot).
I had just gotten back from wandering the Strip, thinking I had plenty of time before the show. Nope—turns out it was starting in 30 minutes. And then it hit me… I left my wallet in the room. Classic. Thankfully, most things can be handled from your phone these days, but still—I had to dash back to my room (one of their newly remodeled suites, by the way—very comfy), grab my wallet, and make it to the box office with about 10 minutes to spare.
Inside the theater, I noticed some tables up front, but I spotted a row just behind them with an empty seat next to mine—hello, bonus legroom! I settled in, and then the fun began.
WOW is one of those shows that really lives up to its name. This show has a little bit of everything: acrobats sprinting on a giant hamster-wheel contraption, roller-skating dancers (one literally picked up two others and spun them around like it was nothing), and a crossbow-wielding archer who’s probably more badass than anyone half their age. There’s also this huge liquid stage centerpiece, 3D visuals, holograms, and a plate-spinning act that had the whole audience cracking up.
It’s the kind of show that pulls you into another world—silly, awe-inspiring, and just plain fun. For a moment, all the noise of Vegas melts away and you’re just in it.
Oh—and don’t rush off when it ends. The cast comes out for photos and they’re super friendly. The line moves quickly thanks to a helpful staffer who makes sure everyone gets a group shot. Honestly, it was such a great way to wrap up the night.
