Bay Area Festivals welcomes you to the 34th Annual Bay Area KidFest, happening Memorial Day Weekend — May 24, 25 & 26!
On opening day, we had the chance to see Puppy Pals, as featured on America’s Got Talent! Kids were invited to sit at the front of the stage to dance and cheer on the talented pups. The show featured rescued dogs, including some that were once at risk of being euthanized. After the show, guests could take photos with the dogs for $10.
Just before the entrance to the ticketed ride area, there was a second stage featuring performances from local Concord organizations, including folklórico dancers and kung fu demonstrations. It’s a great way to discover programs your child might enjoy joining. Many of the performing groups had booths where you could win prizes like candy or receive discounts for future classes.
There were also other booths and attractions, including:
- Timeshare promotions offering “free” vacation packages in exchange for attending a 90-minute presentation
- A balloon animal booth accepting donations
- A Dave & Buster’s booth where I picked up a fun bottle opener
- Free spinning art creations
As for the rides, 20+ attractions were advertised for all ages, but most weren’t suitable for our almost two-year-old. Fortunately, there were bouncy houses near the entrance that were perfect for toddlers — and they didn’t require extra payment. For our six-year-old, we opted for the all-you-can-ride wristband for $40. While the price may seem high, individual ride tickets add up quickly, and if your child loves repeat rides, the wristband is worth it.
Both kids and adults can enjoy classic fair food like cotton candy, tacos, and fountain sodas, but keep in mind — it adds up fast. Parking was also $10. To save a bit on admission, consider bringing a can of food to donate to the Monument Crisis Center for $1 off admission. On Saturday only, bring two cans for $2 off!
While it’s definitely possible to enjoy KidFest without spending much — thanks to the live music, free Puppy Pals show, bouncy houses, and booth giveaways — the rides will be hard to resist, especially for older kids.
🎡 Only two days left — hope to see you there!
