Here are a few tips to help you stick to your nutritional goals this New Year.

  • Keep healthy food stocked: With a fridge full of healthy foods, it makes it easy to not give in to fast food, takeout or any other temptations. Think ahead and make it convenient for yourself.
  • Cleanse your pallet: The healthier you eat, the more your body craves it. You can actually change what your taste buds are craving by giving them more healthy food. A great way to kick start this is with a juice cleanse. When you flush your body with 30-50 pounds of organic raw veggies (more than the typical person receives in a year) it changes how your body feels. When your body feels good, you feel good. Naturally it changes what your body wants.
  • Make easy substitutions: You want that extra beer tonight? Use one less spoonful of sugar in your coffee. Substitute avocado for mayo on sandwiches. Grab a juice when you wake up instead of a sugary breakfast bar. You will not even notice the little change, and you can enjoy the things you crave. Life wouldn’t be as fun if you skipped out on the items you want.
  • Drink water: Sometimes your body is craving water, not food— but your mind mistakes it for hunger. Before you grab the bag of chips to snack on, pour a tall glass of water and then see if you are still hungry. Water also helps with “boredom hunger,” the feeling that you are hungry, when in fact your mind is just bored. Entertain it with water.
